[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원시 진해구 옛 육대부지에 들어선 진해 공공임대형 지식산업센터가 입주율 83%을 보이면서 재정 자립화에 성공한 사례로 거듭나고 있다.

올해 7월 준공 후 8월부터 입주 모집을 시작한 지식산업센터는 재정 자립화가 가능한 입주율 70%를 올해 목표로 삼았으나, 초과 달성하며 이제 수익구조로 정상적인 운영이 가능하게 됨에 따라 지역 경제 활성화와 산업 경쟁력 강화에 큰 기여를 한다는 평가와 함께 유사한 사업에서 운영 모범사례가 되고 있다.

혁신적인 기술과 아이디어를 보유한 중소기업 및 스타트업들이 안정적인 환경에서 성장할 수 있도록 지원하는 공간인 본 센터는 총 사업비 283억원을 투입해 지난 22년 착공해 올해 7월 건립을 완료했다.

현재 70개 호실 중 58개 호실 입주계약이 완료된 상태로 입주율은 83%에 이른다.

나머지 10여 실은 창원시가 집중 육성 중인 의료·바이오 첨단기기 산업 기업과 핵심 연관 기업군을 입주 계획해, 현재 본 센터에 입주 완료한 한국전기연구원 주관의 ‘AI 빅데이터 기반 의료바이오 첨단기기 연구제조센터’ 와 함께 시너지를 내며 창원의 미래산업을 이끌 의료·바이오 산업 밸리로 육성 발전시킬 계획이다.
