[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원시가 최근 급변하는 국내·외 환경 속에서 방산분야 혁신성장 가속화를 통한 지속적인 수출 성장세 견인을 위해 융합 생태계 인프라 구축 등 4개 중점과제와 방산 해외시장 무역사절단 파견 등 11개 세부사업을 제시했다.

 

서정국 미래전략산업국장은 4일 정례브리핑을 통해 이 같이 밝히고 방위산업 구조고도화 및 첨단화로 미래 신성장 핵심동력에 집중 추진한다고 밝혔다.

 

시는 주요 중점과제로 기반조성 중심의 ‘융합생태계 인프라 구축사업’으로 2개 세부사업이 추진된다. 

 

이에 국방과학연구소(ADD)와 함께 최첨단 해양무기체계 및 핵심기술개발을 위한 ‘첨단함정연구센터’를 진해첨단산업연구단지 내에 국비 1004억4,000만 원을 투입해 2033년까지 단계별로 구축하고, 현장 밀착형 중소기업 연구개발 지원 역할을 담당할 ‘방산부품연구원 설립’도 추진하여 신성장 동력을 지속적으로 생산할 수 있는 인프라를 구축한다.

 

두 번째로 R&D 중심의 ‘기술혁신형 방산 중소기업 육성사업’으로 기술경쟁력 강화 및 성장촉진 지원책도 마련한다. 

 

‘방산 중소기업 시제품 제작 및 사업화 패키지 사업’으로 관내 방산 중소기업에 시제품 제작, 역설계 및 고급화, 사업화 컨설팅 등을 지원한다.

 

아울러 항공부품 분야 중소기업에도 시제품 및 치공구 제작, 공정개선 및 자동화, 온·오프라인 마케팅 등을 기업 맞춤형으로 지원하여 핵심부품 국산화 개발을 촉진함으로써 수입대체 효과 및 제품 경쟁력을 강화한다는 계획이다.

세 번째 중점과제는 ‘해외수출 활성화 및 글로벌 네트워크 구축’으로 국내·외 급변하는 환경 속에서 해외시장 확대를 위하여 4개 세부사업을 추진한다. 

 

관내 방산기업의 해외시장 수출 다변화를 통한 수출계약을 촉진하기 위해 무역사절단을 파견하고, 관내 방산기업 제품 우수성 홍보 및 수요자와 개발 기업 간 네트워크 구축을 위한 국내·외 전시회 개최 및 참가도 지원한다.

 

특히 올해 7월에는 방위사업청과 공동으로 제1회 방위산업의 날과 연계한 2025 방산 부품 장비대전을 창원컨벤션센터에서 대규모로 개최할 예정이며, 또한 대·중·소 기업 간 상생협력 도모를 위한 상생마켓, 상호협력 기술 교류회, 세미나 및 간담회 등 각종 네트워크 행사도 추가로 개최하여 방산 분야 트렌드 및 최신 기술동향도 파악한다.

 

마지막으로 ‘방위·항공부품 맞춤형 전문인력 육성사업’을 통해 인력난 해소와 일자리 창출을 도모한다. 

 

관내 방산 중소기업 재직자를 대상으로 필수 전문교육을 통해 기업역량을 강화하고, 기업 비용 부담을 완화할 수 있도록 신규직원 채용비도 지원한다. 

 

또한 대학생 등을 대상으로 한 방산업계 수요에 맞는 기술 및 이론의 체계적인 교육과정 운영과 취업도 지원하여 방위산업의 경쟁력 강화에도 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

 

서정국 미래전략산업국장은 “러시아·우크라이나 전쟁의 장기화, 중동 지역의 불안정한 정세, 미국의 도널드 트럼프 2기 정부 출범 등 글로벌 안보 위기와 국내의 혼란한 정세 속에서도 K-방산의 저력은 여전히 유효하다”며, “창원시가 방위산업의 메카로 굳건히 자리매김할 수 있도록 그동안 축적된 제조업 역량을 바탕으로 핵심사업을 차질없이 추진하여 미래 신성장 핵심동력 마련에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

 

한편, 창원시는 명실상부한 방산 선도도시로서 우수한 인프라를 바탕으로 지역 방위산업의 위상 강화와 산업 육성을 위하여 ‘첨단 국방과학기술 유치 및 산업클러스터 조성’에 박차를 기울여 왔다.
