▲ 창원시, 외국인근로자 자원봉사단 ‘多ONE’ 발대식 개최

[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원시는 9일 창원외국인근로자지원센터에서 시 최초의 외국인근로자 자원봉사단 발대식을 개최했다.

봉사단 명칭인 다원(多ONE)은 다양한 문화와 배경을 가진 외국인근로자들이 봉사활동을 통해 하나로 화합한다는 의미를 담고 있으며, 외국인근로자에 대한 사회인식 개선, 지역사회 구성원으로서의 자긍심 고취, 안정적인 정착지원을 위해 구성했다.

봉사단의 평균 연령은 33세로, 베트남, 캄보디아 등 10개국이 뭉친 단원 30명과 봉사단을 이끌 내국인 2명이 합류한 32명으로 구성됐으며, 매월 1회 환경정화, 복지시설 봉사, 축제 방문 외국인 통역 등의 활동을 계속 이어나갈 계획이다.

이날 발대식에서는 자원봉사라는 공동의 가치를 통해 내·외국인이 협력하고 상생하는 지역사회를 만들기 위해 창원외국인근로자지원센터와 창원시종합자원봉사센터간의 업무협약도 이루어졌다. 

진종상 센터장은 “봉사활동이 활발하게 진행될 수 있도록 현장 지원에 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 창원시는 지난해 1월 외국인주민팀을 신설하고 외국인력 고용현장으로 찾아가는 간담회, 외국인근로자 희망둥지 찾아주기 사업, 외국인정책 공유 오픈채팅방 운영을 통해 외국인력의 지역정착과 기업 인력 고충난을 해결해 나가고 있다.

Changwon City held the launch ceremony for the city’s first foreign worker volunteer group at the Changwon Foreign Worker Support Center on the 9th.

The name of the volunteer group, DaONE, implies that foreign workers with diverse cultures and backgrounds unite as one through volunteer activities, and was formed to improve social awareness of foreign workers, instill pride as members of the local community, and support stable settlement.

The average age of the volunteer group is 33, and it consists of 32 members, including 30 members from 10 countries including Vietnam and Cambodia, and 2 Koreans who lead the group. The group plans to continue activities such as environmental cleanup once a month, volunteering at welfare facilities, and serving as interpreters for foreigners visiting festivals.

At the inauguration ceremony on this day, a business agreement was signed between the Changwon Foreign Workers Support Center and the Changwon City Comprehensive Volunteer Center to create a local community where Koreans and foreigners can cooperate and coexist through the common value of volunteerism.

Center Director Jin Jong-sang said, “We will do our best to provide on-site support so that volunteer activities can be actively carried out.”

Meanwhile, Changwon City established a foreign resident team in January of last year and is resolving the local settlement of foreign workers and the labor shortage of companies by visiting foreign worker employment sites for discussion meetings, finding hope nests for foreign workers, and operating an open chat room to share foreign worker policies.
