▲ 창원시, 체납차량 번호판 영치 및 공매처분 강화

[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원시는 체납차량에 대한 징수 및 처분활동 강화를 위해 2025년 자동차세 체납 중점정리 계획을 수립, 번호판 영치 및 고질·상습차량 공매처분을 추진한다고 10일 밝혔다.

 

자동차세 체납액은 2월 초 기준 159억으로 전체 체납액의 24%를 차지하고 있다.

 

시는 체납차량 번호판 영치를 위해 ‘시·구 영치 전담반’을 연중 상시 운영하며 자체영치, 유관기관 합동영치 등 단계별로 영치활동을 확대·강화할 방침이다.

 

우선 시는 집중단속에 앞서 영치안내 전단 및 카드뉴스를 제작해 읍면동 및 SNS 등을 통해 번호판 영치 사전 안내를 실시하고 2월 셋째주부터 본격 영치활동에 들어갈 계획이다.

 

번호판 영치는 지방세법 제131조, 지방세징수법 제18조에 의거 자동차세를 납부하지 아니한 자의 자동차 등록번호판을 영치해 차량 운행을 제한하는 행정처분이다.

 

영치 대상은 관내 자동차세 2회 이상 체납, 지자체 간 징수촉탁 협약에 따라 3회 이상 체납차량은 전국 어디서나 번호판이 영치된다.

 

번호판이 영치된 차량은 운행할 수 없으며 번호판 없이 운행하는 경우 자동차관리법 제10조 제4항 및 같은법 제84조에 따라 300만원 이하의 과태료가 부과된다.

 

시는 고질상습 및 대포차량에 대한 공매처분도 적극 추진할 계획이다.

 

대상 차량에 대해 인도명령서 발부, 강제견인 등을 통해 공매를 진행하고 처분액은 체납된 지방세에 충당한다.
