Changwon Special City and regional representative companies participate in saving small and medium-sized businesses

35 companies in the city pledge to purchase local gift certificates worth 1 billion won

On the 7th, Changwon Special City delivered the ‘Small and Medium-sized Business Economy Saving Campaign Local Gift Certificate Purchase Participation Pledge’ at the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, marking the fruition of public-private cooperation.

Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City Jang Geum-yong, Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Choi Jae-ho, Gyeongnam Regional SMEs and Startups Agency Director Son Han-kook, Changwon Small and Medium Business Association Chairman Shin Sang-yool, LG Electronics Executive Director Lee Gil-no, BNK Gyeongnam Bank President Kim Tae-han, and Gyeongnam Community Chest of Korea Chairman Kang Ki-chul attended the event.

This commitment is a follow-up measure to the ‘Small Business Saving Campaign’ business agreement signed on March 21, at which time Changwon Special City, Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Gyeongnam Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration, Small Business Market Promotion Agency, and Changwon Small Business Association worked together to establish a public-private cooperation foundation for supporting small businesses and revitalizing the local economy.

A total of 35 companies have pledged to purchase 1 billion won worth of Nubijeon (Changwon Love Gift Certificates) and Onnuri Gift Certificates, and major local companies such as LG Electronics, BNK Gyeongnam Bank, Muhak, Daejoo Accounting Corporation, and Korea Yanase have decided to participate and contribute to revitalizing the local economy.

In particular, LG Electronics donated 50 million won in local gift certificates to the Gyeongnam Community Chest of Korea, taking the lead in practicing warm coexistence for the local community, further highlighting the meaning of the campaign.

Choi Jae-ho, Chairman of the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said, “In order to revitalize the local economy, we need to actively utilize local currency and create a culture in which both companies and employees voluntarily participate,” and added, “I hope that this campaign will not be a simple one-time event, but will serve as an opportunity to promote local consumption and create a sustainable virtuous cycle of the local economy.”

Jang Geum-yong, Acting Chairman of the Board of Governors, emphasized, “It is time for the public and private sectors to join forces to support small business owners and self-employed workers who are struggling due to the triple whammy of high interest rates, high prices, and high exchange rates, as well as the economic downturn,” and “I hope that this campaign will serve as a catalyst for the recovery of the local economy ahead of the payment of the livelihood recovery support fund.”

As part of the livelihood revitalization measures, the city plans to continuously pursue various policies to support small business owners, such as issuing an additional 50 billion won worth of local gift certificates in the second half of the year, providing 10 billion won in loan interest support, and improving the management environment of 123 small businesses.
