[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남도는 광복 80주년을 기념해 8월 한 달간을 ‘광복 경축의 달’로 지정하고 다채로운 행사를 추진한다고 밝혔다.

 

8일부터 열리는 경남 독립운동가 사진전시회를 시작으로, 13일에는 경남의 독립운동 북콘서트가 진행된다. 

 

15일 광복절 당일에는 경축식을 개최하고, 9월 8일에는 경남 독립운동 학술세미나 등 의미 있는 행사가 이어진다.

 

광복 80주년 기념 경남 독립운동가 사진전시회는 창원광장에서 8일부터 17일까지 개최된다. 

 

독립운동 관련 사진 600여 점과 함께 경남의 독립운동사를 설명하고, 일본군 ‘위안부’ 사진 특별전시까지 더해 광복의 의미를 되새긴다.

 

13일 오전 11시 경남대표도서관 전시실에서는 광복 80주년 기념 북콘서트가 운영된다. 

 

‘8.15 광복과 경남의 독립운동’을 주제로 남재우 창원대 사학과 교수가 강연에 나서 경남 독립운동과 독립운동가들을 재조명할 계획이다.

 

15일 광복절 당일에는 창원컨벤션센터에서 제80주년 광복절 맞이 경축식을 개최한다. 

 

이번 행사는 조국의 독립을 위해 헌신한 순국선열과 애국지사의 고귀한 희생정신을 기리고, 광복의 역사적 의미를 도민과 함께 되새기기 위해 마련됐다.

 

경축식에는 독립유공자 유족, 보훈단체장 등 각계 인사와 도민 400여 명이 참석해 광복의 감동과 자긍심을 나누는 뜻깊은 자리가 될 예정이다.

 

9월 8일에는 경남연구원 1층 가야 대회의실에서 ‘경남의 독립운동과 발전적 계승 방향’을 주제로 학술세미나가 열린다. 

 

이병길 항일운동연구소 소장 등이 주제 발표에 나서 경남 독립운동의 발자취를 되돌아보고, 계승 방향에 대해 논의할 계획이다.

 

독립유공자 후손을 지원하는 사업도 민관협력으로 추진한다. 광복절 전후로 경남 거주 광복회 회원 352명에게 1인당 3만 원 상당의 보조약품을 도 약사회에서 지원할 계획이다.

 

지난 5~6월에는 독립운동가 후손 76가구에 소방설비를 보급하고, 2가구에 대해서는 경남개발공사와 함께 노후주택 개선을 지원하기도 했다.

 

도내 공공시설도 제80주년 광복기념 행사에 동참한다. 8월 광복 경축의 달 지정에 따라 8월 한달 간 경남수목원 및 경남도립미술관*을 전면 무료로 개방·운영한다.

 

경남도는 현재 MBC경남 라디오 ‘광복 80주년 경남의 독립운동가 찾기 프로젝트’를 통해 매일 1분간 도내 독립운동가 24명의 활약상 홍보를 통해 경남 독립운동가 알리기에 나서고 있고, 경남 항일독립운동기념탑에 경남의 독립운동가를 추모하는 위패 건립도 추진 중이다.

 

또한, 매월 독립운동 관련 인물과 장소를 소개하는 소책자를 발간 중이며, 12월에는 1년간의 소책자를 모아 종합책자를 발간하여 시군 및 도서관 등에 배포할 계획이다.

 

아울러, 독립운동에 헌신하고도 서훈을 받지 못한 분들의 공적을 기리고 경남의 독립운동 가치를 재조명하기 위해 '23년부터 도에서 직접 미서훈 독립운동가를 발굴 및 서훈 신청 중이며, 현재까지 총 102명을 신청하여 '24년 순국선열의 날(11.17) 포상 6명, ’25년 3.1절 포상 12명 등 2회 연속 전국 최다 선정의 실적을 거두었다.

 

8월 이후에도 광복 80주년 기념사업은 계속된다. 

 

9월에는 도내 3개 초·중등학교에서 독립운동을 주제로 청소년 독서퀴즈대회가 개최될 예정이다.
