[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시가 건축 분야 최고의 권위를 자랑하는 한국건축문화대상에서 대통령상을 수상하며 다시 한번 건축문화 선도 도시로 자리매김했다.

 

진주시는 국토교통부가 주최·주관한 2025 한국건축문화대상 건축문화진흥 부문에서 대통령상을 수상했다고 6일 밝혔다.

 

한국건축문화대상은 지난 1992년 제정된 이후 우수 건축물과 건축문화를 선도한 기관·단체·개인을 선정해 시상하는 대한민국 최고 권위의 건축상이다.

 

진주시는 지난 2019년 공공건축가 제도 도입 이후 시민이 체감하는 공공건축 품질 향상과 건축문화 확산에 꾸준히 힘써왔다. 

 

또 시는 목조 공공건축물 도입을 통한 탄소중립 실현과 지속가능한 도시정책 추진으로 목조건축 대표도시라는 이미지를 확립했다.

 

올해 시는 진주건축문화제를 통해 공공건축가 제도 7년의 성과를 시민들과 공유, 목조건축과 탄소중립을 주제로 국제세미나를 개최하는 등 지역 건축문화 진흥에 앞장서고 있다.

 

조규일 진주시장은 “대통령상 수상은 건축을 도시의 품격으로 여기며 공공건축의 가치와 지속가능성을 실천해온 시민과 행정의 공동 성과다”라며 “앞으로도 사람 중심의 건축, 자연과 공존하는 도시를 향해 나아가겠다”고 말했다.
