[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 경남 창원 진해신항 개발사업이 본격화되면서 지역 주민들이 공사로 인한 환경오염 대책과 실질적인 지역 발전 방안 마련을 강력히 촉구하고 나섰다. 

 

특히, 대기질 오염 및 비산먼지 발생 등 환경 문제에 대한 우려가 커지고 있어, 향후 대규모 국책 사업 추진에 있어 주민 상생 방안 마련이 핵심 과제로 부상하고 있다. 

 

창원시 진해구 동부지역을 대표하는 진해동부지역 발전협의회(회장 신차윤), 진해동부 일자리창출위원회(회장 구성회), 웅동2동 발전위원회(회장 김진홍) 등 주민 대표단은 지난 10일 부산지방해양수산청 산하 부산항건설사무소를 방문해 진해신항 건설 사업 전반에 대한 논의와 함께 지역 민원 해소 방안을 협의했다. 

 

이 자리에는 창원시의회 심영석 의원도 참석해 주민들의 목소리에 힘을 실었다.

 

이날 주민 대표단은 부산항건설사무소 항만개발과 담당자와의 면담에서 향후 공사 진행 과정에서 지역 주민들이 설계, 도로 계획, 주민 편의시설 설치 등에 직접 참여할 수 있는 방안을 마련해 줄 것을 촉구했다. 

 

또한, 공사로 인해 발생하는 대기질 오염과 비산먼지 문제에 대한 철저한 환경오염 방지 대책 마련을 강력히 요구했다. 

 

진해신항 개발로 인한 환경 피해는 이미 주민들의 주요 우려 사항으로 제기되어 왔다. 

 

주민들은 단순히 환경 문제 제기에서 멈추지 않고, 지역 발전을 위한 실질적인 방안을 제안했다.

특히 진해동부 일자리창출위원회 구성회 회장은 "대기업들이 지역업체와 지역주민들을 우선적으로 채용하고, 조례에 따라 지역 중소업체들과 협업할 수 있도록 해야 한다"고 강조했다. 

 

이와 함께 진해동부지역 발전협의회 신차윤 회장은 "용원어시장 옆 바다를 매립하여 지역 주민들이 활용할 수 있도록 해달라"는 구체적인 지역 개발 방안을 제시했으며, "용원재해방지시설 공사의 조속한 진행을 통해 지역 주민과 관광객들이 활용할 수 있도록 빠른 준공을 촉구한다"고 덧붙였다.

 

이에 대해 부산항건설사무소 우동출 과장은 “앞으로 지역 주민들과 시행청, 공사 업체들이 함께 의논할 수 있는 방안을 마련하고 지역 주민들과 협의하여 공사를 진행하겠다”고 답했다. 

 

또한 “지역 주민 채용 문제도 적극적으로 반영할 것이며, 어시장 옆 바다 매립 관련해서는 기본 계획 절차를 진행해 사업 계획을 수립하겠다”며 주민들의 요구에 긍정적인 입장을 표명했다.

 

이날 자리에 함께한 창원시의회 심영석 의원은 “과거 부산신항 건설 과정에서는 지역을 대변하는 단체가 없어 의견 소통에 어려움이 있었으나, 다행히 진해동부지역을 대표할 수 있는 단체들과 협의할 수 있는 좋은 시간이 되었다”며, 항만 개발 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 주민 민원 해결과 지역 일자리 창출을 위해 정례회의를 구성하여 지속적으로 문제 해결에 나설 것을 제안했다.

 

부산항 진해신항 개발은 총 2단계에 걸쳐 추진되는 대규모 국책 사업이다.
