[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 23일 망경동 지식산업센터 앞 부지에서 조규일 시장과 시의회 관계자, 시민 등 200여 명이 참석해 ‘공립 항공우주 전문과학관’ 건립공사 착공식을 갖고 본격적인 사업 추진에 돌입했다.

 

이번 사업은 진주시가 지난 2021년 과학기술정보통신부 공모사업 선정 이후 중앙투자심사와 건축설계 공모 등 주요 절차를 거치며 미래 인재의 꿈을 실현할 기반을 마련해 지역 사회의 큰 기대를 모으고 있다.

 

전문과학관은 총사업비 380억원을 투입해 지하 1층, 지상 3층, 연면적 6000㎡ 규모로 조성, 오는 2027년 9월 준공을 목표로 공사를 진행해 완공 시 진주시를 대표하는 새로운 랜드마크로 자리매김할 전망이다.

 

과학관 내부는 지하 1층 천체투영관을 비롯해 1층 시민 편의시설, 2층 항공기술관, 3층 천문우주관이 들어서며 최신 우주항공 기술을 체험형 전시로 누구나 쉽게 접할 수 있도록 구성된다.
