[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 8일 진양호공원의 핵심 시설인 진양호 전망대를 전면 재정비하는 ‘진양호 노을전망대 조성공사’를 본격 착공한다고 밝혔다.

 

기존 전망대는 노후화와 편익시설 부족으로 개선 요구가 이어져 이에 시는 진양호 조망 자원을 살린 복합 휴식·문화공간으로 새롭게 조성할 계획이다.

 

이번 사업은 지난 2024년 경남도 관광자원개발사업에 선정돼 전환사업비를 포함한 총 48억원의 예산을 확보해 추진된다.

 

공사는 노후 시설 철거 후 전망대와 열린마당, 편익시설, 굿즈숍, 옥외 휴게공간 등을 단계적으로 조성하는 방식으로 진행된다.

 

전망대 리모델링은 올해 하반기 완료를 목표로 하며, 주변 옥외 공간 조성까지 포함해 오는 2027년 12월 최종 마무리될 예정이다.

 

시는 사업이 완료되면 진양호공원은 노을과 호수를 동시에 즐길 수 있는 주야간 관광 명소이자 새로운 랜드마크로 자리매김할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

 

진주시 관계자는 “누구나 안전하고 쾌적하게 이용할 수 있는 공간으로 조성하겠다”며“공사 기간 중 일부 구간 통제에 대한 시민들의 이해와 협조를 부탁드린다”고 말했다.
