[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 김해시가 동계 전지훈련단을 잇달아 유치하며 관광 비수기인 겨울철, 지역경제에 실질적인 활력을 불어넣고 있다.

 

시는 온화한 기후와 전국 최고 수준의 체육시설 인프라를 바탕으로 안정적인 훈련 여건을 갖추고 있다. 

 

2024년 전국체전 개최로 조성‧확충한 체육시설 인프라 효과를 보고 있는 셈이다.

 

지난 8일부터 오는 2월 6일까지 김해시축구협회와 가야대학교 주최로 ‘2026년 전국 대학·고등부 축구 스토브리그’가 열리고 있다. 

 

실전 경기 경험, 선수 간 정보 교류, 우수선수 발굴 목적으로 지난해에도 열린 이번 대회는 13개 팀 450여명의 선수단이 참가한다.

 

임호체육공원과 진영공설운동장에서 경기의왕FC U-18, 경기선유FC U-18, 함양FC U-18, 경기삼일공고, 제주중앙고 등 고등부 10개 팀과 가야대학교, 동강대학교, 서울외국어대학교 대학부 3개 팀의 총 38경기가 진행될 예정이다.

 

오는 16일부터 2월 19일까지는 남자하키 국가대표팀이 김해하키경기장에서 약 한 달간 동계 전지훈련에 돌입한다. 

 

대표팀은 선수 23명과 코칭스태프 5명이 참여한다. 

 

특히 성남시청에서 올해부터 김해시청으로 이적한 세계 최고 수준의 페널티코너 스페셜리스트이자 국가대표 최다 출전한 장종현 선수를 비롯해 김해시청 선수 6명이 포함됐다.

 

이번 훈련은 칠레서 열리는 남자하키 월드컵 예선전(2.28~3.8)을 앞둔 최종 소집 훈련이다. 

 

남자하키 월드컵은 벨기에와 네덜란드에서 4년마다 개최되며 올해는 8월 14일부터 30일까지 열린다.

 

대표팀은 국제대회를 대비한 최적의 훈련 환경과 선수단 이동․운영의 효율성, 기존 인프라를 종합적으로 고려해 김해를 훈련 장소로 선정했으며, 선수들의 체력 강화와 전술 완성도 제고에 중점을 두고 집중 훈련을 진행한다.

 

훈련 장소인 김해하키경기장은 2024년 전국체전을 계기로 시설 인프라를 대폭 확충해 지난해 대만 타오위안시 하키팀과 태국 남·여 하키 국가대표팀이 하계 전지훈련을 실시하는 등 국내외 전지훈련 최적지로 주목받고 있다.

 

쾌적한 기후 여건과 우수한 훈련 파트너, 경기장 인근 숙박·외식업소 등 안정적으로 형성된 상권, 사통팔달의 교통 접근성은 김해가 보유한 차별화된 경쟁력으로 평가된다.

김해시 관계자는 “전국체전으로 확충한 우수한 체육 인프라를 기반으로 한 전지훈련단 유치는 체류형 소비를 창출하는 효과로 이어지고 있다”며 “김해만의 강점을 활용한 적극적인 전지훈련 유치로 스포츠가 지역경제를 견인하는 선순환 구조를 구축해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

 

한편 시는 스포츠를 통한 생활인구 유입이 지역경제 활성화에 미치는 파급효과가 크다는 점에 주목해 2026년부터 전지훈련팀 숙박비 인센티브 지원과 식음료업·관광서비스업과 연계한 ‘김해형 스포츠 패스’ 도입을 포함한 2026 김해형 전지훈련 지원사업 추진을 위해 관련 조례 개정을 거쳐 오는 3월부터 시행할 계획이다.
