[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 28일 월아산 숲속의 진주가 지방정원으로 등록된 것을 계기로 ‘정원 속의 진주, 진주 같은 정원’ 실현을 위해 정원문화 도시 도약에 나섰다.

 

이번 지방정원 등록은 단순한 공간 지정이 아닌 시민의 일상과 문화, 산업, 관광을 정원으로 연결해 온 정책이 확장 단계에 들어섰음을 보여주는 상징적 출발점으로 평가된다.

 

시는 월아산 숲속의 진주를 중심으로 산림복지와 정원문화, 시민참여와 정원산업을 연결해 ‘진주형 숲정원 모델’을 구체화하고 국가정원 기반을 단계적으로 구축할 계획이다.

 

월아산 숲속의 진주는 산림 레포츠와 목공 체험, 숲 해설, 유아숲 교육 등 다양한 프로그램이 운영되는 생활형 산림문화 공간으로 시민과 관광객이 함께 찾는 명소로 자리 잡았다.
