[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 박은식 산림청장이 7일 함양군을 찾아 남부권 국가산불방지센터 운영 현황과 지역 임업 현장을 점검하며 산불 대응 체계 강화와 임업인 지원 확대 의지를 밝혔다.

 

함양군에 따르면 박 청장은 이날 올해 처음 개청한 남부권 국가산불방지센터를 방문해 산불 대응 시스템과 장비 운용 현황 등을 살폈다. 최근 기후 변화로 산불이 대형화·연중화되는 상황을 언급하며 ICT 기반 조기 발견 시스템 구축과 중앙정부·지자체 간 협력 체계의 중요성을 강조했다.

 

또 휴일 없이 비상근무를 이어가고 있는 센터 관계자들을 격려하며 산불 예방과 초기 대응에 만전을 기해 달라고 당부했다.

 

이어 박 청장은 함양읍 약초골농원을 찾아 ‘이달의 임업인’으로 선정된 강구영 씨에게 상을 전달하고 현장 애로사항을 청취했다.

 

박은식 산림청장은 “임업인들의 헌신이 우리나라 산림 가치를 높이는 원동력”이라며 “현장의 목소리를 반영해 임업 경영의 어려움을 해소하고 지원책을 강화하겠다”고 말했다.

 

이날 현장에는 함양군수 권한대행인 양상호 부군수도 함께해 귀산촌 임업인 정착 지원을 위한 산촌드림빌리지 조성사업과 남부권 국가산불방지센터 청사 신축, 산불 다목적 진화차 구입비 지원 등에 대한 국비 지원을 요청했다.

 

양상호 부군수는 “이번 방문이 남부권 국가산불방지센터의 안정적인 운영과 지역 임업인들에게 힘이 되는 계기가 되길 바란다”며 “산림청과 협력을 강화해 산불 없는 안전한 함양 조성에 힘쓰겠다”고 밝혔다.
