양산시는 이날 통도사 주변 사찰림과 생활권 일대 소나무재선충병 방제 현황을 설명하고 예방 방제 확대를 위한 국비 지원을 산림청에 요청했다.
특히 생활권 주변 위험목 제거와 중요 소나무림 보호를 위한 예산 지원 필요성을 강조했다.
산림청은 통도사 사찰림 보호를 위해 예방나무주사와 유인항공방제, 드론 예찰 등을 확대하고 주요 소나무림 관리 체계도 강화할 계획이라고 밝혔다.
또 주요 사찰림에 대한 방제대책 용역과 지자체 맞춤형 예산 지원 방안도 추진할 예정이다.
통도사 일대는 역사·문화적 가치가 높은 사찰림이 밀집한 지역으로, 최근 기후변화와 재선충병 확산 우려가 커지면서 선제 대응 필요성이 지속 제기되고 있다.
산림청은 국가유산 보호 차원에서 지방자치단체와 협력해 재선충병 예찰과 방제 체계를 강화한다는 방침이다.
