[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 하동군이 예비 귀농인들을 대상으로 한 현장 중심 교육을 통해 귀농·귀촌 유치에 성과를 내고 있다.

 

하동군은 부산귀농운동본부 ‘68기 생태귀농학교’ 교육생 21명이 지난달 23일 하동을 방문해 선배 귀농인 농가를 탐방하는 현장 교육을 진행했다고 2일 밝혔다.

 

이번 탐방은 예비 귀농인들이 실제 정착 사례를 직접 살펴보고 농촌 생활에 대한 이해를 높일 수 있도록 마련됐다. 부산귀농운동본부는 매년 하동군 탐방 프로그램을 운영하고 있으며, 하동에는 해당 교육 과정을 수료한 뒤 성공적으로 정착한 30여 명의 귀농인이 활동하며 후배들의 멘토 역할을 하고 있다.

 

하동군과 부산귀농운동본부는 지난해 귀농귀촌지원센터 업무협약을 체결한 이후 지속적으로 교류를 이어오고 있다. 양측은 대표 협력사업으로 ‘하동에서 1주어때?’ 프로그램을 운영해 지난 2년간 40명의 예비 귀농인이 하동 농촌 생활을 체험했다.

 

이날 교육생들은 횡천면과 악양면 일대 선배 귀농 농가 3곳을 방문했다. 고사리와 매실 재배, 양봉을 결합한 복합 영농 사례를 비롯해 대봉감 재배와 지역 일자리를 병행하는 귀향 모델, 농촌테마형 민박 운영 사례 등을 둘러보며 귀농 과정과 정착 전략을 들었다.

 

특히 단순 농업 생산에 머물지 않고 농촌관광, 지역활동, 부업 등을 접목한 다양한 정착 모델이 소개되면서 참가자들의 관심을 끌었다.

 

교육생들은 섬진강과 악양들판, 형제봉 등 하동의 자연환경을 체험하는 한편 귀농 선배들과의 대화를 통해 현실적인 조언을 얻었다. 참가자들은 안정적인 정착을 위해서는 충분한 사전 준비와 구체적인 계획 수립이 중요하다는 점을 배웠다고 입을 모았다.

 

일부 교육생들은 하동을 귀농 후보지로 검토하고 있으며 향후 진행될 ‘하동에서 1주어때?’ 프로그램 참여 의사도 밝혔다.

 

하동군은 이번 탐방이 단순 홍보를 넘어 실제 정착 사례를 기반으로 한 체험형 귀농 교육이라는 점에서 의미가 크다고 보고 있다. 성공적으로 정착한 선배 귀농인들이 다시 예비 귀농인의 멘토가 되는 선순환 구조가 형성되면서 하동의 귀농·귀촌 정책 효과도 높아지고 있다는 평가다.
