[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 하동군은 하동읍과 금남면에서 운영 중인 재활용도움센터의 성과를 바탕으로 옥종면에 재활용도움센터를 추가 설치하고 운영을 시작했다고 7일 밝혔다.

 

옥종면 재활용도움센터는 총사업비 1억6천500만 원을 들여 청룡리 124-7번지 일원에 연면적 57.6㎡ 규모로 조성됐다.

 

군은 지난해부터 재활용도움센터를 운영하며 분리배출 환경 개선과 재활용 가능 자원 회수 확대를 추진해 왔다.

 

운영 실적을 보면 2025년 10월 개소 이후 약 3개월 동안 673명이 센터를 이용했으며, 종이팩과 폐건전지 3만9천517개, 기타 재활용품 2천611㎏을 수거했다. 보상 물품은 4천681개가 지급됐다.

 

올해도 이용 실적은 증가했다. 6월 말 기준 참여자는 2천151명으로 늘었고, 종이팩과 폐건전지 14만6천969개, 기타 재활용품 9천988㎏을 회수했다. 보상 물품 지급은 1만3천801건으로 집계됐다.

 

옥종면 재활용도움센터는 재활용품과 생활폐기물을 함께 배출할 수 있는 복합시설로 운영된다. 현장에는 분리배출 도우미가 상주해 배출 방법을 안내하며, 종이팩과 폐건전지 교환, 재활용품 배출량에 따른 종량제봉투 지급 등 보상 프로그램도 운영한다.
