[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시와 사천시가 7일 오전 11시30분께 진주시청에서 시장 간담회를 열고 서부경남 상생발전과 광역 생활·경제권 구축을 위한 ‘경제동행시티’ 추진에 뜻을 모았다고 밝혔다.

 

이날 간담회에서 조규일 진주시장과 박동식 사천시장은 사천-진주 국도33호선 우회도로 건설과 진주-사천 생활폐기물 광역소각시설 설치를 핵심 공동사업으로 선정, 국가계획 반영과 사업 추진을 위해 긴밀히 협력해 나가기로 의견을 모았다.

 

이번 사천시장의 진주시 방문은 지난 4월 고향사랑기부제 상호 기부를 위해 조규일 시장이 사천시를 찾은 데 대한 답방 형식으로 이뤄졌으며, 생활권과 경제권을 공유하는 두 도시가 협력 기반을 더욱 공고히 하는 계기가 됐다.

 

국도33호선 우회도로 건설은 두 도시를 오가는 상습 정체 구간을 해소하고 출퇴근과 물류 이동의 효율성을 높이는 핵심 교통 인프라 사업으로, 우주항공국가산업단지와 일반산업단지를 연결하는 주간선도로 역할도 수행할 것으로 기대된다.
