[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남도가 소형모듈원자로(SMR) 산업 육성을 위한 특별법 개정안 발의를 환영하며 관련 산업 활성화에 대한 기대를 나타냈다.

경남도는 13일 허성무 국회의원이 대표 발의한 '소형모듈원자로 개발 촉진 및 지원에 관한 특별법' 개정안이 연구개발 중심의 기존 법률을 제조와 상용화, 수출 지원까지 확대하는 내용을 담고 있다고 밝혔다.

경남도는 그동안 원전기업과 산·학·연 의견을 바탕으로 SMR 특구 조성과 수출·세제 지원 확대 등 산업 육성을 위한 제도 개선을 정부와 국회에 건의해 왔다. 올해 3월과 6월에는 국회 토론회를 열어 제도 개선 방안을 논의하기도 했다.
