[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 고성군은 16일 동해면 내산리 일원에 조성되는 '고성해양일반산업단지'가 신규 지정돼 본격적인 조성 절차에 들어간다고 밝혔다.

산업단지는 ㈜금오중공업이 사업시행자로 참여해 약 13만9천㎡ 규모로 조성된다. 군은 이번 사업을 해양산업 기반 확충과 지역경제 활성화를 위한 핵심 투자유치 사업으로 평가하고 있다.

금오중공업은 대형 크레인과 항만 크레인, 육·해상 금속구조물 등을 생산하는 중량물 제조 전문기업이다. 해상 운송과 항만 인프라 활용이 필요한 업종 특성을 고려해 당초 창녕군에서 추진하던 산업단지 계획을 고성으로 변경했다.

앞서 금오중공업은 지난해 고성군과 200억 원 규모의 투자협약을 체결했으며, 올해 5월부터 대독일반산업단지 일부 부지에서 생산시설을 운영하고 있다.

고성해양일반산업단지는 대형·항만 크레인 등 해양 관련 생산품의 제조와 출하 기반을 갖춘 산업시설로 조성될 예정이다.

하학열 고성군수는 "산업단지가 차질 없이 조성돼 양질의 일자리 창출과 지역경제 활성화로 이어질 수 있도록 행정 지원을 아끼지 않겠다"고 말했다.
