[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 더불어민주당 경남도당은 지난 15일 '홍남표 창원시장은 검찰 압수수색에서 나온 뭉칫돈의 정체를 밝히라'며 성명서를 통해 입장을 밝혔다. 

이에 홍남표 창원시장은 자신의 페이스북을 통해 "악의적인 악마의 편집"이라며 MBC 경남을 고소할 것을 예고했다. 

홍 시장은 같은날 검찰에 고소장을 제출했고, MBC 경남은 같은날 오후 8시30분경 방송을 통해 수사 중인 사건이라 누구라고 직시할 수 없었다며 자막을 통해 정정보도를 했다. 

이에 16일 창원특례시의회 국민의힘 일동도 '더불어민주당 경남도당은 흑세무민의 비열한 정치공작을 즉각 중단하라'며 성명서를 발표했다. 

창원특례시의회 국민의힘 의원 일동은 성명서에서 "MBC마저 하루만에 정정보도를 했을 만큼 부정확한 보도에 기대어 시민들의 불안감을 조장하고 시정을 뒤흔들려고 하는 것은 정작 누구인지 진심으로 되묻고 싶다"고 밝히고 "더불어민주당은 단순 의혹만으로 시민이 직접 뽑은 창원시장의 명예를 훼손하고, 시민들을 기망한 행위에 대해 머리 숙여 사죄하라. 검찰은 신속하고 엄정하게, 성역 없는 수사를 펼쳐 사건의 진실을 시민 앞에 명백하게 밝히라" 고 성명서를 통해 밝혔다.
