[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시가 사파지구 도시개발사업을 통해 지역거점지구로 발돋움한다는 계획이다.

시는 21일 도시개발사업 브리핑을 통해 사파지구 도시개발사업 계획을 밝혔다.

사파지구 도시개발사업은 성산구 토월·사파정·남산·대방동 일원에 3단계로 나누어 추진 중이며 사업비 2,963억원 규모로 91만4,690㎡에 주거시설, 공공청사, 교육연구시설, 근린생활시설 등을 조성하는 친환경 도시개발사업이다. 

1단계 사업인 공동주택(62,342㎡) 부지 조성은 2019년 12월 조성 완료해 2022년 3월부터 공동주택(1,045세대) 입주가 시작됐으며, 2,3단계 사업인 단독·연립주택(81세대), 공공청사(창원가정법원), 교육연구시설, 근린생활시설, 공원시설 등은 2023년 12월 완료를 목표로 추진 중에 있다.

사파지구 도시개발사업이 완료되면 토월·사파정·남산·대방동 일원에 공원시설 확충으로 주변 거주 주민들이 다 함께 누릴 수 있는 삶 속의 휴식공간이 제공될 것으로 기대하고 있으며, 공공청사(창원가정법원) 유치, 교육연구시설 분양 등으로 유입인구가 증가하여 지역경제 활성화에도 큰 기여를 할 것으로 예상된다.

최재안 도시개발사업소장은 “사파지구 도시개발사업을 통해 도시환경을 체계적으로 정비하여 동북아 중심도시에 걸맞게 시민의 삶의 질을 높이고, 유입인구 증대로 지역경제 활성화뿐만 아니라 창원특례시의 단단한 초석이 될 수 있도록 하겠다.”고 말했다.
