[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 강기윤 의원은 23일 한국생명운동연대와 공동으로 제3회 삶이오(3월 25일) 생명존중의 날 기념행사와 함께「자살대책, 정부·지자체·민간, 우리 모두 나서자」라는 주제로 ‘생명존중 토론회’를 개최했다.

이날 토론회는 강기윤 의원을 비롯해 정우택 국회부의장, 보건복지위원회 서정숙 의원, 최영희 의원, 보건복지부 1차관, 생명전문가 110여명이 참석해 자살대책에 대한 중앙정부 및 지방자치단체, 민간단체의 역할에 대해 논의했다.

박인주 전 사회통합 수석의 주제발표에 이어 영아에서 청소년, 중장년, 노인에 이르기까지 생애주기별 자살 현황과 유가족의 지원대책에 대해 5명의 전문가들이 자살예방대책을 제안하였으며, 특히 제5차 자살예방기본계획에 대한 주요내용에 대해서는 보건복지부가 직접 설명했다.

강기윤 의원은 “우리나라 자살률은 여전히 세계 1위를 차지하고 있는 심각한 사회문제이다. 자살은 개인만의 문제가 아닌 가족을 비롯해 주변인에게도 영향을 미치기 때문에 우리 모두가 관심을 가져야 한다. 고독사 위험자를 신속하게 발견하고 지원하기 위해서 고독사 위험자 지원통합시스템 마련을 위한 법안을 보건복지위원회에서 심사해 통과했는데 자살대책에 보완적 역할을 기대한다”고 말했다.
