[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시는 24일 오후 6시 진해공설운동장에서 창원의 대표 축제이자 우리나라 대표 봄꽃 축제인 제61회 진해군항제 개막식을 화려하게 개최했다고 밝혔다.

 

전국 최대 규모의 벚꽃 축제인 진해군항제가 코로나19 이후 4년 만에 성대한 팡파르로 화려한 컴백을 발표하며, 수많은 관광객과 시민, 내외빈이 참석한 가운데 열린 개막식은 군항의 고장에서 열리는 축제답게 해군진해기지사령부 의장대와 해군본부 군악대의 식전공연으로 막을 열었다. 

 

(사)이충무공선양군항제위원회 김환태 회장의 개막선언에 이어 창원시민 연합 합창단의 ‘평화를 위한 대합창’ 공연과 십센치(10CM), 박창근, 김희재, 백수정, 문초희, 배진아, 박정서 등 인기 가수들의 축하 무대가 개막식의 열기에 기름을 부은 듯 타올랐다.

 

군항제의 백미인 ‘군악의장 페스티벌’은 31일부터 4월 2일까지 3일간 진해공설운동장 일원에서 개최되며, 대한민국 육·해·공군·해병대, 미군 군악·의장대, 염광고등학교 마칭밴드 등 14개 팀 700여 명이 힘찬 마칭공연과 의장 시범 등을 선보인다.

이번 진해군항제는 진해에서뿐만 아니라 창원 전역에서 군항제 축제를 즐길 수 있도록 기획됐었으며, 성산구 상남분수광장(30일)과 마산합포구 오동동문화광장(4월1일)에서 군악·의장대가 찾아가는 프린지 공연으로 군항제 열기를 이어간다. 

 

이번 진해군항제를 찾는 관광객을 450만 명으로 계획한 만큼 창원 전역을 군항제 관광권으로 확산해 근항제를 찾은 관광객들의 발걸음이 자연스럽게 창원 구석구석을 향할 수 있도록 설계했다. 

 

이와 함께 군항제 기간 동안 야간에도 벚꽃 축제를 즐길 수 있도록 화려한 조명으로 관광객을 유혹하며, 특히 중원로터리에는 창원에서 생산한 K9 자주포와 K2 전차를 전시해 ‘K-방산의 주력’ 창원특례시를 알린다. 

 

군항제 기간에는 평소 출입이 힘든 해군사관학교와 해군진해기지사령부 등 군부대를 개방해, 벚꽃 구경은 물론 함정 공개, 거북선 승선 체험, 해군 사진전, 군복 체험, 페인트볼 건 사격 체험 등 다양한 행사가 마련돼 있다.

 

시는 올해 군항제에 약 450만 명이 찾을 것으로 보고 안전 대책을 위해 ‘이동식 대중경보시스템(Mobile Warning System)’을 도입하고, 인파가 몰려 안전사고 우려가 있을 때 미리 경고 방송을 통해 안전한 행사를 치를 계획이다. 또 군항제 기간 공무원과 자원봉사자 등 6000여 명이 행사장 안전 및 교통 관리 등에 투입된다.
