[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시는 ‘제2회 창원특례시장배 장애인생활체육대회’를 지난 1일부터 4일간(1~2일, 6일, 11일) 개최하고 오는 11일까지 대회를 이어간다. 

창원시장배 장애인생활체육대회는 종목별 대회가 아닌 종합체육대회로서, 장애인들이 한자리에 모여 재활과 자립 의지를 높이고 장애‧비장애 구분 없이 체육인으로서의 사회 참여 활성화를 위해 마련됐다. 

총 7개 종목(게이트볼, 슐런, 볼링 등)에 참가한 선수들은 장애의 유무가 결코 장애가 되지 않는다는 것을 보여줄 전망이며, 장애는 편결일 뿐이라며 이를 극복하기 위해 그동안 연습을 게을리하지 않았다고 했다.

2일 마산실내체육관에서 열린 개회식에는 각계 인사, 장애인단체, 자원봉사자 등 관계자 및 선수단 500여 명이 참석해 장애인들을 격려하고 생활체육을 통해 하나되자고 한목소리를 냈다.

장금용 창원특례시 제1부시장은 대회사에서 “창원시는 시민 누구나 시간과 장소의 제약 없이 체육활동을 즐길 수 있도록 지원을 아끼지 않겠으며, ‘약자와 동행하는 도시 창원’을 만들기 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
