[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시 성산구 상남동 통장협의회는 지난 6일 농촌 일손 돕기를 통해 부족한 일손으로 적기를 놓쳐 애태우고 있는 단감 농장을 찾아 구슬땀을 흘렸다.

창원을 대표하는 특산품 중 하나인 창원 단감은 전국 최고의 품질을 인정받고 있어 찾는 사람들이 많지만 수확을 앞두고 일손이 부족하다는 소식을 듣고 성산구 상남동 통장협의회와 직원 28명은 일손 돕기에 동참하기로 뜻을 모았다.

의창구 동읍 죽동마을(영길농장)을 찾은 봉사대는 1ha에 달하는 단감 수확 작업을 통해 농촌일손 돕기를 시작했으며, 그동안 일손이 부족해 수확하지 못한 단감들이 봉사대의 손길에 따라 포장용 박스가 차곡히 쌓여갔다.

농장주 김주근 씨는 “이상기후로 수확량이 절반으로 줄었고 수지가 맞지 않아 사람을 쓰지 못해 이중고에 시달리고 있었는데, 이렇게 찾아주셔서 수고해주신 덕분에 시름을 들 수 있었다”며 “창원 단감이 전국으로 유통돼 많은 분들이 창원 단감을 맛볼 수 있게 됐다"며 감사하다는 말을 전했다. 

전미경 상남동 통장협의회장도 “통장협의회원들과 직원들이 마치 내 일처럼 함께 해주셔서 작업 내내 웃으면서 일할 수 있었다”며 “지역을 대표하는 창원 단감이 전국으로 유통돼 우리 지역을 알릴 수 있어 더 보람을 느낀다”고 말했다.
