[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 홍태용 김해시장과 대표단은 지난 15일 국제 자매도시 중국 무석시(無錫市, 우시시)를 방문했다고 16일 밝혔다.

대표단은 13일부터 16일까지 3박 4일간의 중국 출장기간 중 14일 세계지방정부연합 아시아․태평양지부 총회(중국 이우시) 참석 후 무석시로 이동해 15일 두시오강 무석시 당서기를 접견하고 의생명․의료기기 협력을 위한 MOU를 체결했다.

또 제조업과 IoT 기술의 융합을 위한 IoT 시범타운인 쉐랑과학기술타운과 중국 최초의 생명과학 분야 기술산업단지인 우시회산생명과학기술단지 내 대표입주기업을 방문하여 무석시의 의생명․의료기기 기업지원 현황을 청취하고 무석시의 첨단산업 발전상을 둘러보았다.

무석시는 중국 10대 경제도시 중 하나로 반도체, 바이오, IoT 등 첨단산업 및 공업이 발달한 대도시이며, 김해시는 무석시와 지난 2005년 자매결연을 체결한 이후, 행정․문화 등 여러 분야의 교류 활동을 통한 우호관계를 지속적으로 유지하고 있다. 

홍태용 김해시장은 “자매도시 무석시를 방문하여 당서기님을 직접 만나 교류협력 논의를 한 만큼 앞으로 양 도시 간 교류가 더욱 활성화될 것으로 기대한다. 특히 이번에 체결한 의생명․의료기기 협력 MOU를 통해 양 도시의 관련 산업이 상호 발전하는 데 도움이 될 것으로 생각한다”며 소감을 밝혔다. 

무석시 관계자도 "무석시의 정치, 행정, 외교 전반의 수장인 당서기님이 자매도시 시장님을 직접 접견한 것은 매우 이례적인 일이다”며 "그만큼 김해시와의 우정을 특별하게 생각하신 것으로 앞으로 양 도시의 우호관계가 더욱 공고해질 것으로 기대한다”고 말했다.
