이번 행사는 관광객이 주로 많이 찾는 해양드라마세트장 파도 소리길에서 진행되었는데, 명주어촌계원과 공무원, 기간제 노동자 등 50여 명이 참여하여 방치된 비닐, 플라스틱, 캔 등 각종 생활 쓰레기와 해안변에 떠밀려 온 폐어구·그물 등 해양쓰레기를 집중적으로 수거했다.

마산합포구는 지난 24일부터 6월 9일까지를 바다 주간으로 지정해 어촌계, 자율관리어업공동체 및 민간단체의 자율적 해양정화활동을 격려하고 지원할 계획이다. 수거한 해양쓰레기는 일정 장소에 정리·보관 후 구청에서 직접 수거하여 2차 오염을 예방할 계획이다.
