진주시, 50년 지역숙원 남부내륙철도 마침표 ‘환영’남부내륙철도 건설사업 재정평가위원회 심의 통과…내년 말 착공
국가균형발전 프로젝트의 일환으로 남부내륙철도의 역사와 사업계획 적정성 재검토 통과가 확정된 가운데 지역의 정재계, 지역민들은 일제히 “환영”의 목소리를 냈다.
진주시는 지난해 9월부터 사업계획 적정성 재검토 기간 단축을 위해 경남도,국가철도공단에 지속적으로 건의, 지난 4월에는 국가철도공단을 방문해 사업성 재검토와 조기착공을 건의했다.
사업계획 적정성 재검토에는 열차 운행횟수 증대를 감안한 신호장 추가, 도로 및 하천계획을 고려한 교량계획 조정, 터널 굴착공법 안전성 보강, 역사건축 면적(합천, 진주, 고성, 통영, 거제) 증대다.
또 자연환경 훼손 최소화를 위한 보강공법 적용, 지역별 환경, 민원해소를 위한 철도시설 마련 등이 반영돼 기본계획 총사업비 4조9438억원에서 6조6460억원으로 약 1조7000억원이 증액됐다.
국가철도공단에서는 실시설계를 속행하고, 각 지자체별 주민설명회를 포함한 환경영향평가, 재해영향성평가 및 관계기관 협의를 연말까지 진행하여 내년 상반기에 설계를 마무리할 계획이다.
