[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남도는 외국인 근로자가 증가함에 따라 안정적인 정착을 지원하기 위해, 도내 외국인근로자 지원센터를 확대 설치한다고 11일 밝혔다.

 

도는 고용노동부의 ‘외국인근로자 지역정착 지원사업’에 선정되어 센터를 운영 중인 창원시, 김해시, 양산시를 제외한 도내 15개 시군을 대상으로 오는 7월 1일까지 사업을 공모하여, 하반기에 외국인근로자 지원센터를 1개소 이상 설치할 계획이다.

 

이번 공모는 최근 조선업과 항공산업 등 도내 주력산업 분야에서 외국인력 수요가 증가하고 있고, 정부의 외국인력 유입 확대 정책에 따라 지난해 12만 명에서 16만5,000명으로 외국인력 유입 규모가 대폭 확대한 만큼 외국인력의 체계적인 지원을 위해 추진한다.

 

경남에는 올해 3월 기준으로 9만 3,606명의 등록외국인이 체류하고 있다. 이 중 산업인력은 4만 8,801명으로 전국에서 두 번째로 큰 규모이다.

 

이번 공모에 선정되면 올해 하반기에 외국인근로자 지원센터를 설치해 최대 3년간 총 4억원을 투입하여 외국인근로자들에게 주거지원, 비자전환, 산업인력 역량강화 프로그램 등을 지원할 계획이다.

 

주요 지원내용은 외국인 근로자의 한국어 및 기초생활 적응 교육, 고충·생활·법률·취업 상담, 주거지원 및 일상생활 편의 제공, 산업재해 예방 교육, 문화·체육 행사 개최, 사업장 방문 상담, 통역 서비스 제공 등이다. 

 

이외에도 도는 외국인근로자들이 체류기간에 사회의 구성원으로서 조기에 정착할 수 있도록 다양한 지원 서비스를 마련할 계획이다.

 

경남도는 외국인 상담수요가 많은 기존의 창원‧김해 외국인근로자 지원센터에는 상담 인력을 보강하고 사업비를 추가 지원한다.

 

2개 센터에 외국어 상담서비스를 강화하기 위한 현지 상담사를 2명 이내 추가 채용하고, 방문상담이 어려운 사업장이나 농어업 사업장 등은 찾아가는 상담서비스를 추진한다. 

 

지역특성에 맞는 맞춤형 지역특화 사업도 발굴하여 외국인근로자의 지역정착을 돕는다.

 

한편, 도내에 운영 중인 3개 외국인근로자 지원센터는 지난 3월부터 5월 말까지 일상고충, 사업장 내 갈등 등 1만 34건의 상담을 처리했으며, 국적별 상담건수는 베트남 30.6%, 필리핀 17.1%, 캄보디아 16.2% 순이다. 

 

사회통합을 위한 한국어 교육에는 6,700여 명이 참여했으며, 총 9,739명의 외국인근로자가 정보화․산업안전 등의 교육과 각종 문화행사에 참여했다.
