[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시는 세계적인 조각의 거장 문신(文信)의 예술세계와 업적을 기리는 ‘제22회 문신미술상 시상식’과 전년도 수상작가 ‘양태근 초대전’을 26일 개최했다.

 

창원시립마산문신미술관에서 개최된 ‘제22회 문신미술상 시상식’에서 본상은 김성복 성신여자대학교 미술학부 조소과 교수가, 청년작가상은 창원지역 출신의 임수빈 작가가 수상했으며, 약 100여 명의 내빈이 참석해 수상을 축하했다.

 

본상 수상자에게는 상금 2천만원, 청년작가상 수상자에게는 상금 1천만원이 주어졌다. 특히 본상은 내년도 작품 1점 구입과 문신미술관에서 초대 개인전을 개최하는 특전을, 청년작가상은 추후 문신미술관 기획전 초대 특전이 주어진다.

 

김성복 작가는 전통을 토대로 한 시대 의식을 판타지로 표현하는 작업에 매진해 왔다. 삶의 두려움을 극복하는 인간상을 창출한 조각적 캐릭터에 현실과 이상의 이면을 나타냄과 동시에 전통과 판타지를 융합하고 있으며, 철저한 노동을 통해서 한국적 형상조각을 표상하고자 한다. 

 

임수빈 작가는 나와 타자, 인간과 비인간, 실재와 가상 세계 등의 경계를 규정짓는 조건과 그 경계의 변화에 질문을 던진다. 작가의 작업 방향은 지구에 비가시적 존재들과 인류의 관계를 고찰하고, 인류세 시대에 함께 공진화 할 수 있는 방안을 모색하는 작품을 선보이고 있다.

이날은 시상식뿐 아니라 ‘제21회 문신미술상 수상작가 양태근 초대전’ 개막식을 동시 개최했으며, 개막을 축하하는 테이프 컷팅과 전년도 수상작가인 양태근의 전시소개가 이어졌다. 초대전은 5월 26일부터 7월 30일까지 문신미술관 제2전시관에서 열린다.

 

홍남표 창원특례시장은 “올해는 문신 탄생 101주년을 넘어 새로운 100년의 시작을 알리는 뜻깊은 해”라며, “우리 시는 앞으로도 문신미술상이 문신의 예술세계를 널리 알릴 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”며 수상을 축하했다.
