[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남도가 유기동물 입양 활성화와 책임 있는 반려문화 확산을 위해 입양자 지원을 확대한다.

 

경남도는 올해 총 3억5천700만 원을 투입해 시·군 동물보호소에서 유기동물을 입양하는 도민을 대상으로 입양부터 장례까지 지원하는 ‘생애주기형 입양 지원사업’을 추진한다고 밝혔다.

 

지원 대상은 시·군 동물보호센터에서 유기동물을 입양한 뒤 내장형 동물등록을 완료한 입양자다.

 

도는 ‘유기·유실동물 보호관리 지원사업’에 1억7천만 원을 투입해 1천690마리를 지원할 계획이다. 입양장려금과 펫보험료, 장례지원비 등이 포함된다.

 

또 ‘유기·유실동물 입양비 지원사업’을 통해 진단비와 치료비, 미용비, 중성화수술비 등 입양 초기 비용을 지원한다. 사업비 1억8천700만 원을 들여 748마리를 지원할 예정이다.

 

입양자는 마리당 최대 65만 원의 혜택을 받을 수 있다. 세부적으로는 입양장려금 10만 원, 펫보험료 10만 원, 장례지원비 20만 원, 진단·치료·미용비 등 25만 원이 지원된다.

 

경남도는 단순한 입양 장려를 넘어 반려동물의 생애 전 과정을 지원하는 체계를 구축해 입양 가정의 경제적 부담을 줄이고 유기동물의 새로운 가정 정착을 돕는다는 방침이다.

 

박동서 경남도 축산과장은 “입양 이후 발생하는 의료비와 양육 부담은 물론 반려동물의 마지막 순간까지 지원하는 제도”라며 “도민들이 안심하고 유기동물을 입양할 수 있는 환경을 조성하겠다”고 말했다.

 

한편 경남도는 올해 동물보호·복지 분야 13개 사업에 총 74억 원을 투입해 유기동물 보호와 반려동물 복지 향상 사업을 추진하고 있다.
